The Reentry Services Unit is responsible for managing the components of the national transition from prison to community (TPC) model at RIDOC. Three managers share the responsibility for administering reentry services that stretch from sentencing through release from prison to the communities that receive ex-offenders. The Professional Services Coordinator of Institutional Programming supervises the activities of the assessment unit, counseling services unit, parenting-related services, religious programs and services, and institutionally-based rehabilitative programming. The Professional Services Coordinator of Transitional Programming manages several agencies who provide pre-release planning services to inmates in all facilities and manages the newly created Transition Center, a one-stop resource for offenders leaving prison to obtain assistance connecting to community-based service providers. The Coordinator of Interdepartmental Programs and Policies is part of the statewide Reentry Council, which was created by Governor Carcieri, to advance the issue of prisoner reentry in RI.
