Counseling Inmates who are Victims of Sexual Violence is a treatment service delivered under a contract with Day One formerly the Sexual Assault and Trauma Resource Center of Rhode Island. They have been providing psychoeducational and support groups for men and women at the RIDOC for a number of years. During each cycle of 10-week groups five separate groups are conducted, two in the Women’s Division and three in Men’s Medium. For most participants, this is the first time they have ever talked about their own victimization. Providing them with an environment that encourages discussion and support have been key factors to the success of the program.
