The Department's internal affairs unit, supervised by the Chief Inspector, investigates allegations of employee misconduct. If it determines such complaints to be founded, it provides testimony in the disciplinary process. If the misconduct violates state or federal statutes, the office makes referrals to outside law enforcement agencies and cooperates in the prosecution of criminal cases. This unit also works cooperatively with law enforcement authorities on outside investigations involving Departmental staff.
