CORRECTIONAL OFFICER TRAINEE
$32831 - $46568 *

* Upon successful completion of a nine week pre-service training program, appointment to the position of Correctional Officer (40 hr. work week) will be at the annual salary range noted above. During the nine weeks of training, Correctional Officer Trainees will receive a base rate of $500 per week without benefits. Successful completion of the pre-service training program is required to obtain permanent status as a Correctional Officer.

DUTIES: A Correctional Officer is responsible for the supervision, custody and control of adult inmates incarcerated at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston, Rhode Island.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: HS Diploma/GED and employment in a private or public agency involving the supervision of others and the enforcement of rules and regulations; or, a substantially equivalent combination of education and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be certified as physically and mentally qualified to perform the above duties after passing a medical and psychological examination conducted by a licensed physician and psychologist. Candidates must also be fluent in English and pass a comprehensive screening process including a written and video-based examination, a physical fitness test, a nationwide criminal records check and background investigation.
